NASJ currently has over 30 members that cut across the print, electronic media as well as science communicators. Its members pay a token of N1,000 as yearly dues.

The association intends to provide platforms for capacity building for science journalists, conception and development of ideas that could guide science technology development as well as open doors of opportunities for members through partnerships and various programmes.
It also serves as a platform for professional interactions among members and among other associations.
